Irish Taxis to be Fitted with Indicators

FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT Irish taxis must be fitted with right and left hand indicators.

The device, which is already mandatory in other public and private motor vehicles, has been under going trials at several urban centres.

“It’s not fair on our members to impose this at this time. We’re not prepared, we’re not ready and we’re not for turning”, said Bernard Tuite, Head of the Taxi Drivers Federation of Ireland.

“We have the hazard button to turn on for this already, so why the duplication? It makes no sense at all”, he added.

Remarkably, Irish taxi drivers had been recognised as one of the most expressive groups of motorists in Ireland.
