LOCAL LOUTH MAN Jimmy Kennedy revealed the rare Jesus symbol on a lottery scratchcard on Thursday last. Speaking the following day, he told our reporter that it came as quite a shock.

“I had just come back from the solemn novena there at the Redemptorists, so I really thought my luck was in. I had this strange feeling at mass and then when I started scratching and saw the figure of Christ on the  €2 scratchie, I  nearly shat myself. I was excited and all sorts of things were going through my mind”, he said.

It was ultimately, however, to be a disappointment for Jimmy.

“There’s no prizes for one symbol”, said  a spokesperson from the National Lottery, “you need three Jesuses to claim the jackpot. But I’d like to congratulate Mr Kennedy, as far as we’re aware it’s the first time that anyone from Louth has found Jesus”.
