PROGRAMMING CHIEFS AT TV3 have scrapped plans for an Irish version of Gogglebox. The new programme, based on the highly successful Channel Four series, had been in production for the last 4 months at various locations around the country. It’s not known why the broadcaster had pulled the programme, but sources close to the television station has hinted that there were problems signing up sufficient numbers of participants. TV3, has however, denied this.

 “We put a lot of effort into making this work, but it’s not to be. It’s disappointing, particularly for the team and for the autumn schedule but we’ll regroup and see where we go from here.  The rumours about reluctant participation are simply not true. The demand to be on the box was overwhelming. We auditioned hundreds of families and are satisfied that that was not an issue”,  said a spokesperson.

Gogglebox Ireland had been expected to appear on TV screens in late October, and was set to feature Irish audiences viewing TV3, RTÉ One and Network Two content.
