THE WAR ON DRUGS may just have become unwinnable following the news that a team of geneticists at Monsanto Corporation labs in St. Louis, Missouri, has successfully cross bred a cannabis plant with the common nettle.

It’s understood that the Monsanto team has succeeded in swapping the nettle’s serotonin manufacturing DNA with that of the cannabis plant, effectively creating a plant that can inject the active “high” in cannabis,  tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).  Stinging nettles use hollow hairs (trichomes) to inject a potent chemical cocktail of histamine, acetylcholine, and serotonin. The new strain is said to be indistinguishable from the common nettle in appearance.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), has moved meanwhile to classify the new sub species as a Schedule 1 drug.
