TANAISTE JOAN BURTON today officially launched Ireland’s third banking force, The Food Bank.

Cutting the red ribbon at the bank’s headquarters in Glasnevin, Dublin,  Labour leader Joan Burton claimed that the new bank would offer Irish consumers a credible alternative to the products being offered by the other pillar banks, AIB and Bank of Ireland.

“This move opens up the market and creates real choice. There’s four varieties of skimmed milk powder, thirty six different canned foods, and best of all  bags and bags of cake mix”, she said.
