“Tight Bastards” New Bins Slated
LOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL is under fire following the unveiling of its new urban street bins. The new bins have been described as paltry and mean by both environmentalists and locals alike.
“The old ones were bad enough, you could hardly fit anything in the opening. But these ones are even worse. At a push you could just about get a sheet of paper through the slot”, said one angry local.
“It’s the thin end of the wedge so it is. I see what’s really going on here. They’re not fooling anyone. They’re sealing the bins closed so that the don’t have to collect them, that’s their game so it is. Sure they might as well get inflatable ones, or just paint them on the walls instead, the tight bastards”, she added.
Reacting to the outcry, the Head of Waste Management, Archie Timmons, denied there was a problem.
“There’s no issue here. It’s not just a new bin design, it’s more bins too. What’s the fuss? We’ve been criticised for not having enough collection points and then when we provide them, we get this abuse. I just don’t understand it. I can tell you now these new bins will not only double local litter collection capacity in our urban centres, they’re also more ergonomic and more in keeping with the streets cape, aesthetically.
It’s understood that the council will begin replacing the existing bin stock with the new three litre bins early in the new year on a “bin-by-bin” basis.
