A CALIFORNIAN TODDLER  was charged on Friday with a federal hate crime for alleged racism.

Prosecutors said Stacy Krajaeck, 3, screamed “I hate Muslims” before throwing a milk carton across the breakfast bar at the family home in Las Campanas, Santa Fe.

Her sister Mindy, 6, called 911 to report the incident, prosecutors said in court papers. Her defense team however said it was just a misunderstanding, arguing that the child had shouted “I hate muesli” in a breakfast-related tantrum.

 “I’m not saying she didn’t say muesli”, said a spokesperson for a local anti racist group, Barbara Kratz, “I’m saying that she meant to say Muslims, but just hasn’t the vocabulary yet.  So we need zero tolerance, we need to nip this in the bud. She must be prosecuted”.

Muesli is a simple mix of lightly toasted grains, seeds, dried fruits and nuts, while Muslims are people who follow the religion of Islam.
